One Direction band members have not yet responded to Liam Payne’s death

The news that Liam Payne, member of the super boy band One Direction, has passed away today has rocked the world of music and celebrity. The singer was just 31 years old and is survived by his seven-year-old son Bear, who he raised with ex-partner Cheryl Cole and current partner Kate Cassidy (pictured below).

Payne died in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires outside a hotel, the local newspaper reported La Nacion on Wednesday. He reportedly fell from a third-floor balcony and the cause of death is under investigation.

While we don’t yet know the details of this tragic incident, and may never know the full story, we do know that Payne’s famous friends and the sizable One Direction fan base are shocked and deeply saddened by the unexpected news. The reactions to the news on social media speak volumes about the impact of Payne’s death and legacy.

But while big names such as Paris Hilton and Payne’s former colleague Jedd have expressed their condolences, the remaining band members of One Direction have yet to make any public comments. Harry Styles’ mother, Anne Twist, posted a heartfelt response to her Instagram account and captioned a broken heart emoji with the words: “Just a boy… 💔”

Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan (who was in Argentina to see Payne play live) and Louis Tomlinson spent six years together, and 1D (as fans call the band) was one of the most popular musical acts in the world while it was active, from 2010 when it was founded under the leadership of X factor Verdict after the members appeared on the British reality TV show until the band split in 2016.

The world continues to wait with bated breath for an official response from the band members, whether individually or as a group addressed to the fans and public.
