One dies and several are injured in a road accident in Lagos

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, on Sunday confirmed the death of an adult man in a multiple accident on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

The Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, who confirmed the development in a statement, said several other persons were injured in the accident.

Oke-Osanyintolu said the accident happened at the Ile-Epo Bust Stop, Oko-Afa, Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

“In response to emergency calls on toll-free lines 767 and 112, the agency activated its emergency response team from Igando base at 9:33 am.

“Upon arrival at the scene of the incident, it turned out that several cars were involved in a multiple accident.

“The accident involved a fully loaded truck, registration number FFF 754 XB, a white Toyota, Hummer van, owned by Cross Country Transport, registration number MUS 210 YJ, fully loaded with passengers.

“Other cars involved were a commercial Volkswagen bus, registration number LSR 166 YE and a Nissan car, registration number unknown,” he said.

According to him, while an adult man was killed in the incident, several other injured were rushed to nearby hospitals by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC.

He added that FRSC officials deposited the corpse at the mortuary before the agency’s response team arrived
