One dead after crash near Orange Cove

One has died after a crash near Orange Cove, California Highway Patrol says.

CHP says they received a call about a traffic accident on Hills Valley Road, just north of Manning Avenue, on Wednesday afternoon around 4:50 p.m.

CHP says based on investigation and witness statements, a 22-year-old man was driving a Toyota Corolla northbound.

Witnesses tell CHP the man was passing other traffic.

A 25-year-old woman was driving a GMC southbound.

The GMC tried to swerve to avoid a collision, lost control and the Corolla and GMC ended up crashing into each other.

The GMC then turned sideways and was struck by a third vehicle driven by a 44-year-old man.

The woman in the GMC died from her injuries.

The 48-year-old man was taken to Community Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

Hills Valley Road was closed for a time after the crash.

CHP has not determined who was at fault.

This crash is still under investigation.

CHP says drugs, alcohol and weather do not appear to be factors in the crash at this time.

The Tulare County Coroner recovered the body of the woman who died along the Fresno-Tulare County line while Fresno CHP handled the investigation.
