Olympic swimmer Ian Thorpe embroiled in most bizarre feud of 2024 as he clashes with Married At First Sight star on TV

Tensions reached boiling point during Sunday’s shock episode of The Amazing Race when Olympic contestant Ian Thorpe clashed with Married At First Sight bride Cyrell Paule.

The heated confrontation broke out after Cyrell, 35, overheard Thorpe’s teammate Christian Miranda complaining that she was ‘following’ them during a challenge.

Paule, who has been nicknamed Cyclone Cyrell because of her hot temper, confronted her best friends and demanded to know if they were gossiping about her.

“Were you whining to Christian about us following you?” Cyrell and her partner Eden Dally asked, to which Christian replied that he didn’t know what she was talking about.

“I mean you’re a smart guy, that’s what I’m talking about,” Cyrell replied angrily.

Ian and his friend then attempted to diffuse the situation by telling their irate co-star: “We don’t do MAFS” and asking her to stay out of the personal attacks.

However, this only enraged Cyrell more, who told them: ‘Yes, and you don’t swim now either. Christaian, you are known as Ian Thorpe’s friend.

“You’re just his buddy, a sidekick. Maybe you should keep your mouth shut if you don’t know anything, that’s what you should do.”

Thorpe later told the camera that he wanted to keep conflict to a minimum during his time on the show so he could focus on the challenges ahead.

‘When I participate in something, I focus on how I can deliver the best result. I can exclude people.

“It’s nonsense,” Ian said.

Luckily, Ian no longer has to worry about a conflict with Cyrell or Eden on the show, as the reality couple was eliminated from The Amazing Race later that episode.

Ian and his childhood friend Christian champion youth mental health services ReachOut Australia in the celebrity edition of the Channel Ten reality series.

They still compete against stars like Peter Helliar, Jett Kenny, Billy Brownless and others for the top prize of $100,000, which goes to the winner’s chosen charity.
