US team player Lynn Williams has revealed she broke her Olympic gold medal while celebrating her victory.

The Gotham FC player said she got “carried away” dancing with her teammates after the US women defeated Brazil in the final.

In a video posted to TikTok on Friday (August 23), Williams said she was carrying her medal on her shoulder “like a little bag” when it fell to the ground.

Williams said she has been in contact with the IOC and hopes the dent in the medal can be repaired.
