Oklahoma Softball adds another player to transfer portal

The Oklahoma Sooners softball team added its newest member via the transfer portal on Saturday. The second pitcher to join the team this offseason is officially in the boat.

Patty Gasso and the four-time reigning champions received a commitment from former Louisiana pitcher Sam Landry. The three-time All-Sun Belt honoree announced her decision on social media.

In her career, she has a 2.12 ERA with 63 wins and 460 strikeouts in 460 innings pitched. She entered the transfer portal on June 27.

Landry was an All-Sun Belt first-team selection, Sun Belt Championship All-tournament honoree, and an All-Louisiana first-team selection. She finished in the top 10 in wins last season with a career-best 24 victories. She led the Ragin’ Cajun pitching staff with 165 strikeouts, and held opponents to a .219 batting average in 46 appearances and 28 starts.

Landry and fellow transfer Isabella Smith join the Sooners pitching staff, which includes Kierston Deal, Patyn Monticelli and freshman Audrey Lowry. Deal is the most experienced returner the Sooners have on the roster. The Sooners are still waiting for Player of the Year NiJaree Canady to make a decision.

Landry is the fifth player Gasso has acquired through the portal since winning the national championship last month.
