Official: NFF appoints experienced goalkeeper Isa as head coach of Supersand Eagles

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed Abdullahi Isa, a veteran goalkeeper and assistant coach, as the new head coach of the Supersand Eagles, reports Soccernet.ng.

He is assisted by Christopher Kadiri as assistant coach and Bashar Samaila as goalkeeping coach.

The first task for the Supersand Eagles coaching crew will be to lead the team to Nouakchott, where they face Mauritania on Saturday in the first leg of the 2024 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. It will be the first time in five years that Nigeria will compete in an international competition.

Abdullahi Isa will lead the Nigerian delegation, supported by assistant coach Christopher Kadiri and goalkeeping coach Bashar Samaila.

The squad includes experienced players such as Victor Tale and Emeka Ogbonna, alongside Arome Isah, Adams Taiwo, Emmanuel Ohwoferia, Godwin Tale, Egan-Osi Ekujimi, Chidozie Frank and Hassan Abdullahi.

The match will be led by a team from Egypt. Hany Farouk El-Sayed Eleraky is the head referee, assisted by Ahmed Mohamed Elwan Nofal and Ibrahim El-Sayed Mahgoub. Khaled Mohamed Elewa is the timekeeper and the Moroccan El Mansouri Taha is the commissioner.

The return match of the qualifying match is scheduled for Saturday, July 27 in Nigeria.

After their disappointing performance at the 2019 Beach Soccer World Cup in Paraguay, which forced them to withdraw from international competitions, beach soccer enthusiasts led by Mallam Mahmoud Hadejia have kept the sport alive in Nigeria with the annual Nigeria Beach Soccer League and various tournaments.
