Official: 4 World Cup winners named to Argentina’s Olympic squad

Four FIFA World Cup winners have been named to Argentina’s Olympic squad.

Argentina’s squad for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris has been announced. Four players from the 2022 World Cup winning team are among them!

The South American giant will travel to France with a strong squad of players for the football tournament that starts on July 24.

The team’s coach, former Liverpool and Barcelona star Javier Mascherano, announced his 18-man squad on Tuesday, the Argentine Football Association website reported.

Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli is leaving for Paris after being part of Argentina’s World Cup squad in Qatar together with experienced central defender Nicolas Otamendi.

The defender is the most experienced player the South Americans are sending to the competition, having made 114 appearances for the first team so far.

Attacking midfielder Thiago Almada was also included in Mascherano’s squad, as was Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez, who currently represents Argentina at the 2024 Copa America.
