Offaly Cycling and Touring Club Members Hold Successful Annual Meeting

Members of Tullamore Cycling and Touring club gathered on Saturday 13th July to celebrate their annual club cycle

Members of Tullamore Cycling and Touring Club gathered on Saturday 13th July to celebrate their annual club cycle. Last year the same event was cancelled due to unfavourable weather conditions on that day.

This year, things looked uncertain in the early hours of the morning, but cyclists were finally able to get their club day out for 2024. The day went from a heavy drizzle in the morning to a ray of sunshine as the cyclists returned to Tullamore. There were two routes to choose from, 80km and 120km.

The 80km group cycled via Clara, Moate, Mount Temple and stopped at Dún na Sí Amenity and Heritage Park for coffee. The 120km group went to Blueball, Cloghan, Ferbane, Shannonbridge, Clonmacnoise, Ballinahown and Athlone. They stopped at Kileens in Shannonbridge and all arrived at the Villager Restaurant in Glasson for lunch at 1pm. Cyclists could use an outdoor terrace that offered space for 52 TCTC cyclists.

Congratulations to the travel committee and especially thanks to the staff of The Villager, Glasson and especially all the club members who made it a great day.
