Odds, choices and predictions US vs Bolivia – Copa America 2024

Christian Pulisic and Team USA may be able to come away with victory over Bolivia on Sunday night, but it won’t be an easy feat as the Bolivians generally prove to be a tough opponent, according to our Copa America football betting odds.

The United States begins its preparations for the 2026 World Cup as they open the 2024 Copa America against Bolivia.

The host nation is trying to find a way to top the group ahead of Uruguay, and to do that they will have to start with three points. Gregg Berhalter will need a strong performance if he is to fend off renewed calls for his job, while the Yanks will want to demonstrate they can compete with CONMEBOL.

It is very unlikely that Bolivia will make it out of the group, but they could have a say in who wins the group. Although they are not the country they used to be, a change of manager has made them a tougher team in the Copa America 2024 odds.

Find out why that could make things a little tougher for the USMNT in our US vs. Bolivia predictions for Sunday, June 23.

US vs. Bolivia Choices and Predictions

My best choice:
Bolivia +2 (+135 at Betano)

My analysis

Bolivia won’t be reaching the World Cup anytime soon, as evidenced by the CONMEBOL qualifiers. So far this cycle they have lost five of their six matches with one win against Peru, the team ranked 32nd in the FIFA World Rankings.

But if you look at that win in the context of shortly after a management change, you look at the Bolivian team a little differently. Dig a little deeper and you’ll see that in the seven games since Antonio Carlos Zago took over, they have been more competitive.

Yes, they lost 3-0 to Colombia and 3-1 to Ecuador in their last two friendlies, but they scored 16 shots against Ecuador and played much more evenly against Colombia than the United States has recently.

In Bolivia’s last seventeen games, they have only lost by multiple goals five times. Including the aforementioned losses, the other countries to achieve this feat were Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil – all three of which are in the Top 15.

But it is their most recent match against a CONCACAF nation that I believe they will lose by two goals at worst on Sunday. Mexico recorded a 1-0 victory at Soldier Field at the end of May, a match in which Bolivia actually had more possession and only had one big chance.

The United States should win this game, but nothing they’ve shown me lately makes me believe they’ll romp. They come away with a 1-1 draw against Brazil, but that match was played in a style that the USMNT thrives on. They’ve battled teams that let them have the ball and waited to hurt them when they made mistakes.

Gregg Berhalter’s team thus lost 5-1 to Colombia and has only won twice with multiple goals in their last seven games according to regular rules. One of these was a 3-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago, who played much of the match with ten men and collapsed in the final ten minutes, conceding three times.

Only against Mexico in this spring’s CONCACAF Nations League final have they even scored multiple goals in a match in 2024. They are struggling to find a consistent striker, are dealing with injury problems in key positions and appear to be stagnating under Berhalter in his career. second stint.

The other key factor is their defense. The Americans have kept one clean sheet in their last six games and have made major mistakes in both of their recent friendlies.

Berhalter has a poor track record against CONMEBOL teams, with just one win in eight matches. He gets his second here, but I’ll take Bolivia to stay within two goals.

Christian Pulisic odds, support for today

My best choice
Pulisic can score at any time (+105 with Betano)

My analysis

One of the ways Bolivia wants to stay in matches is by playing physically. They commit fouls at one of the highest rates among teams in the Copa America.

That’s an important factor to look at when evaluating player props, especially when trying to figure out who can score a goal. And as Christian Pulisic showed against Brazil, if you give him a free kick near the penalty area, he can make you pay.

The American winger is having an excellent season at AC Milan, with 15 goals in 48 games. This was despite playing on the right, where he was not well known and was unable to cut inside on his favored foot.

But on the national team he is the center of the attack. He has scored in five of his last eight matches, and as the main set-piece taker he has a better chance of scoring against a Bolivian side that compacts things defensively.

Pulisic tends to shoot more often against opponents who defend in such a manner, and is one of the team’s best scorers from distance. This price is reasonable and I stand behind it at this point.

USA vs Bolivia same-game parlay (SGP)

Betano

Bolivia +2

Christian Pulisic can score at any time

Below 3.5

I see this match as a 2-1 win for the Americans, with Pulisic involved in the scoring as previously discussed. Fortunately, it sets us up for a strong parlay in the same game.

Three or fewer goals have been scored in fifteen of Bolivia’s last eighteen matches. In 12 of those 18 they have won, drawn or lost by one goal. They are a team that defends in a low block, looks to hit on the break and makes things difficult for the opponents. They don’t score many goals, and this should be a more exciting affair than the odds indicate.
