Northbound I-25 was closed shortly south of Walsenburg on Tuesday after an accident

HUERFANO COUNTY – A traffic accident closed northbound I-25 south of Walsenburg Tuesday morning.

It is located near mile marker 41 heading north, near the border of Huerfano and Las Animas County.

A Colorado Department of Transportation traffic camera in the area appears to show crews working to right an overturned semi-truck.

Based on the traffic camera in the area, the road is open again to one lane as of 8:30 am and the overturned semi-truck is no longer on its side.

Colorado State Patrol tells us the call first came in around 4:55 am. The driver of the semi-truck was taken to an area hospital with possible injuries, but their condition is unknown.

Repairs began around 7:55 a.m., briefly closing both lanes of northbound I-25 before reopening to one lane as of 8:15 a.m.

Colorado State Patrol is still investigating the cause of the crash.
