Nike’s brand new Air Max Verse is rugged and beautiful

Another day, another Nike Air Max drop. Or so it seems.

The most recent release from Nike Air Max is a brand new shoe, the Air Max Verse. This just goes to show a theory I’ve been working on: Every day is Air Max Day if you believe in it!

A gem in black, this streamlined sneaker features a slimmer fit thanks to its single Air Pocket, unusual compared to other Air Max models that feature multiple Air Pockets, giving the Air Max family its signature bounce.

The Air Max Verse is a newcomer to Nike’s Air Max family. It features a more understated silhouette and a unique Air Pocket that makes the shoe a bit more versatile, according to Nike itself — “Max Air, maximum versatility.” — which is currently only offering the Air Max Verse through its Japanese web store for ¥15,730 (approximately $110).

But make no mistake, this sneaker can still run with the big boys in the Air Max pack. Or at least jog moderately.

Look, the mesh upper and leather overlay give the Air Max Verse a tough touch, making it a sturdy stepper with that signature Air Max charm.

The Air Max Verse definitely has its own thing going for it, but if I had to compare it to one of its Air Max comrades, the Nike Air Max 1 might be its closest relative, as the two shoes meet similar demands.

If you’re not a fan of the Air Max Verse’s minimalist heel or overall stripped-down approach, don’t worry. Nike is coming out with bold new Air Max iterations and innovations like it’s going out of style (File under: Things That Will Never Happen)

Nike recently presented a chrome-plated Nike Air Max Muse with the help of Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles, who already hinted at the launch of the shoe in New York.

Fans of Nike’s futuristic projects will be happy to hear that the Air Max Portal is on the way, an otherworldly shoe that features ribbed textiles and a chunky sole.

All in all, it’s (always) a good day to be an Air Max fan.
