Nicolas Jackson will avoid a retrospective penalty from the FA for shoving Morato in the face on Sunday, but Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have been charged for their massive brawl in Sunday’s fiery draw.

Jackson’s reaction after running away from the substitutes bench was reviewed by VAR Jarred Gillett, who decided it was not violent conduct, and was noted in referee Chris Kavanagh’s report. The authorities have therefore decided not to take any further action.

Footage of the Stamford Bridge incident was shared on social media immediately afterwards, showing Jackson, who had already been substituted, appearing to ‘hit’ Morato as both sets of players engaged in a shoving match. That happened when Neco Williams pushed Marc Cucurella into Enzo Maresca, causing the Chelsea head coach to fall over.

The FA are now awaiting responses from Chelsea and Forest after accusing them of failing to control their players in what they described as a ‘mass confrontation’.

In a statement, the FA said: ‘It is alleged that both clubs failed to ensure that their players did not behave in an inappropriate and/or provocative manner around the 88th minute. Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have until Thursday, October 10 to provide their response.”
