Nick Kyrgios criticizes fan who trivialized his Jannik Sinner views by mentioning the sexual assault case

Nick Kyrgios was unimpressed when a fan brought up his sexual assault case and used it as an argument that he shouldn’t be the one to voice his opinion on Jannik Sinner’s doping case.

Shortly after it emerged that Sinner had twice failed a doping test for a banned steroid but was spared a suspension because he could prove the product he used was contaminated, Kyrgios called the situation “ridiculous” and said the world No. 1 should have been banned for at least two years.

And after Kyrgios’ powerful statement on the Sinner affair made headlines, someone tried to downplay its significance by ridiculing the relevance of the 2022 Wimbledon finalist.

“Murray has never done drugs or assaulted a woman, Nick. My point is not that your opinion is wrong, but that you may not be the best person to judge,” Scott Barclay wrote.

After another fan posted about Kyrgios’ sexual assault charges in 2022, the Australian tennis star responded: “Ah yes, the charges were dropped and nothing happened. But what about Jannik’s 2 tests? Both showed steroids.”

What happened in the case of the attack on Kyrgios?

After Kyrgios’ ex-girlfriend Chiara Passari claimed in 2021 that she had been pushed by the eight-time ATP champion during an argument, causing her to suffer shoulder and knee injuries, the Australian tennis star was charged with assault in mid-2022.

Kyrgios later pleaded guilty to one of the charges, but was not convicted as the judge decided to drop the charges.

When the incident occurred in early 2021, Kyrgios was in a dark period and the judge later accepted his explanation and the argument that his mental state may have played a role in his reaction. The fact that Kyrgios had no history of abuse also influenced the ruling.

“It is in a way a compliment to you because you (Kyrgios) knew you were being triggered in some way and you knew you had to get out of the situation,” magistrate Beth Campbell told the court.
