Your Tagovailoa

This entry would have looked very different not too long ago, though it would still center on Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Tagovailoa’s night against the Bills was nothing short of disastrous. His numbers were atrocious: 145 passing yards and three interceptions, including a pick-six in the third quarter that should never have been thrown.

But no one will talk about that lousy performance. Or the fact that a Dolphins team with aspirations of a deep playoff run lost to the Buffalo Bills for the 12th time in 13 meetings this year.

No, the only topic of conversation in Miami will be Tagovailoa’s health after the young quarterback suffered another concussion while attempting to gain extra yards on a fourth-down play.

It was a terrible decision: the first down was taken. And given Tagovailoa’s history of concussions (three in the 2022 season alone), there’s now a huge dark cloud hanging over the Dolphins.

Mind you, this is the quarterback the Dolphins just signed to a four-year, $212 million contract. A quarterback who reportedly considered retirement due to the concussions he suffered two years ago.

Tagovailoa is now out indefinitely. Miami does have a “mini-Friday” before the trip to Seattle in Week 3, but given Tagovailoa’s injury history, it’s not an exaggeration to expect him to miss multiple games.

Oh, and left tackle Terron Armstead also took Thursday’s loss.

Week 2 is really early to panic.

But the Dolphins are in big trouble.
