Stefon Diggs could miss his first game of the season after suffering a non-contact knee injury against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday that “it’s pretty safe to say” the Houston Texans wide receiver will not play against the New York Jets on Thursday.

Rapoport also reported that Diggs was listed as DNP for Monday’s estimated practice report and that head coach DeMeco Ryans said the Texans “need to undergo more testing and continue to evaluate his knee.”

Diggs twisted his knee while running a route in Sunday’s win over Houston and left the game after five receptions for 81 yards.

“Too bad to see Stef go there. He is being examined for a knee,” head coach Ryans said after the game, according to ESPN’s DJ Bien-Aime. “We will have more information as the week progresses.”

In his debut season with the Texans, Diggs has 496 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 47 receptions.

Should Houston be without its star for an extended period of time, it would only add to the Texans’ injury problems. Houston placed star receiver Nico Collins on injured reserve earlier in October due to a hamstring injury and understandably he will return until Week 10.

Before his injury, Collins led the league in receiving yards with 567, along with three touchdowns on 32 receptions.

With Diggs and Collins likely out for Thursday’s game, the Texans will need a big game from Tank Dell, their third leading receiver. Dell, who had an excellent rookie year that was cut short due to injury, has 229 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, solid numbers considering Houston’s loaded wide receiver room.

While Dell hasn’t had the season he was hoping for yet, he should have plenty of goals on Thursday and a chance to build some momentum heading into the second half of the season.
