Several NFL executives believe the New York Jets are likely to trade Haason Reddick after the edge rusher declined to sign a new contract, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported.

“Their options seem clear: keep him on the reserve list until he reports or try to trade him closer to the trade deadline. The latter seems more likely, according to multiple league executives,” Fowler wrote.

An anonymous NFC executive told Fowler, “I’m not sure they have a choice. They wouldn’t get the same value back (a third-round pick), but it would be tough (for the Jets) to pay him at this point, and he clearly doesn’t want to be there. Both sides handled the situation poorly.”

The Jets traded a conditional 2026 third-round pick to acquire Reddick from the Philadelphia Eagles in April, but he has not practiced or played because of his extension to sign a new deal. He requested a trade in August, which the Jets declined.
