NFL Rumors: David Njoku ‘highly unlikely’ to be traded by Browns before deadline | News, scores, highlights, stats and rumors

According to NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, it is “highly unlikely” that Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku will be traded before the 5:00 PM ET deadline on Tuesday.

Despite receiving several calls from other teams regarding his availability, Njoku is seen as part of the Browns’ long-term plans.

Njoku and the Browns are 2-7 on the season as the tight end has posted 30 receptions for 255 yards and two touchdowns.

The 28-year-old has spent all eight seasons in the NFL with the Browns, totaling 3,519 yards and 27 touchdowns in 101 games.

He is currently signed to a four years$54.8 million contract with the Browns. Trading him would result in a $20.9 million cap hit, while keeping him would require a $14.3 million cash commitment and a $22.2 million cap amount.

For now, the veteran Browns player will remain in Cleveland as the team heads into its bye week.
