NFL Network Hires Former Commanders HC Ron Rivera, Former Saints LB Manti Te’o and More | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats & Rumors

Former Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera and former New Orleans Saints linebacker Manti Te’o are leaving the NFL for the broadcast booth.

Rivera and Te’o will join former NFL wide receiver Isaiah Stanback and NFL Network football analyst Nate Tice for the 2024 season, league officials announced Thursday.

Te’o made his NFL Network debut on Good Morning Football earlier this month.

Te’o was a Heisman Trophy finalist at Notre Dame before entering the NFL in 2013. He played parts of eight NFL seasons, primarily with the San Diego Chargers and Saints.

Rivera, a linebacker for the Chicago Bears from 1984 to 1992, coached the Carolina Panthers and Washington Commanders for 13 seasons.

After being fired as head coach of the Commanders in January, Rivera applied for defensive coordinator positions with the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys before taking a job as an analyst on ESPN’s “NFL Live” this spring.

According to NFL media, both Rivera and Te’o will join NFL Network teams “on a regular basis.” Good Morning Football as well as the Roku Channel-based companion morning show GMFB: Overtime.

Rivera will also appear as an analyst on NFL game day live, a program that will air simultaneously with games starting at 1:00 p.m. ET, according to NFL Media.

Stanback, a former Washington star who played in 22 NFL games for the Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots and Jacksonville Jaguars between 2007 and 2012, will also appear on the morning show.

Tice, a former University of Washington quarterback, previously worked as an analyst at The Athletic before leaving in May to join Yahoo Sports. Also a former member of the Oakland Raiders coaching staff, Tice will join the network while continuing to write and podcast at Yahoo Sports, NFL Media reported.
