The New Orleans Saints offense has been extremely productive through the first two weeks of the 2024 season, leaving a strong impression on opposing coaches.

“These guys are performing like the ’07 Patriots and the ’99 Rams, but those teams threw the f–k out of the ball,” one defensive coach said of the Saints, via Mike Sando of The Athletic. “These guys are doing it. It’s only two games, but damn it.”

New Orleans followed up a 47-10 Week 1 win over the Carolina Panthers with a 44-19 blowout victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. The Saints’ scoring average is more than 10 points higher than that of the Arizona Cardinals, the NFL’s No. 2 scoring offense, through two games.

New offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak has had New Orleans’ offense flourishing, scoring on each of the team’s first 15 plays to start the season.

The Saints’ rushing attack has been the driving force behind their early success, with over 180 yards on the ground as a team in both victories. Alvin Kamara thrived against Dallas, with 115 yards on 20 carries. He also rushed for three touchdowns, and added a fourth score as a receiver.

New Orleans hasn’t just relied on contributions on the ground, however. Derek Carr has thrown for 443 yards and five touchdowns, compared to just one interception in his first two starts. That included an impressive 70-yard toss to Rashid Shaheed that led to a score in the first quarter against the Cowboys.

While it may be too early to compare the Saints to the best offenses in NFL history, like the 1999 Los Angeles Rams and the 2007 New England Patriots, New Orleans deserves some praise after a pair of convincing wins to start the year.
