Next in line for heaven is Giants Hall of Famer Orlando Cepeda

Through Linda Hubbard on June 29, 2024

If it was my uncles Bill and Stuart who introduced me to Willie Mays and the San Francisco Giants, it was my mother Edith Reid Hubbard who made me appreciate Orlando Cepeda.

He was her favorite player and she often pointed him out on the field during the Reid family baseball games.

And when day games were the norm, I would come home from Hillview School (then a K-8!) to the sounds of Russ Hodges broadcasting the game on the radio. “Orlando’s up,” she would announce.

Orlando passed away yesterday (June 28) at the age of 86.
