Newcastle could return with improved offer for 24-year-old attacker

Newcastle United’s initial bid of €15 million has been rejected by Barcelona and the Magpies could return with a revised offer for Ferran Torres.

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle have been busy in the current transfer window. They have added a lot of players to their squad, but there is still work to be done as we enter the final few weeks of the window.

The Magpies are looking to add more firepower to their attack and are interested in the services of Ferran Torres. According to a report from Fichajes, Newcastle’s initial bid of €15 million plus add-ons for the Spain international has been rejected by Barcelona. However, the Magpies have not given up yet and they could return with a revised offer in the near future.

The Catalan giants paid a whopping €55 million to sign Torres from Manchester City in the winter of 2022. Although he has performed reasonably well for them, the former Valencia graduate has failed to establish himself as a regular in the team. The Spanish winger has three years left on his contract at Barcelona, but he is not part of Hansi Flick’s plans. As a result, they are ready to cash in on the 24-year-old.

The Spanish giants are not in the best financial situation and his departure could help them raise a significant amount of money to reinvest in their squad. Barcelona have set an asking price of €30 million for Torres as they look to recoup some of their investment in bringing him to Camp Nou.

Newcastle look for attacking reinforcements

Newcastle have considered bringing in Raphinha, but the former Manchester City winger is a much cheaper alternative for them. More importantly, he can play anywhere in attack. His arrival would add depth to the flanks and provide cover for their star man Alexander Isak. Although Barcelona rejected Newcastle’s bid of over £15m, the Magpies have not given up the hunt and could return with a revised offer before the end of the transfer window.
