The US-based New York Red Bulls Academy, through the non-governmental organization Soccer For Dreamers (NGO), has donated football clothing and equipment to the Kumasi-based Asanteman Amputee Soccer Club in support of their activities.

Asanteman Amputee SC, the 2018 Ghana Amputee Football League champions, have launched a massive appeal for support to strengthen the team to compete for the title and develop players for the national teams and foreign markets.

Their request was welcomed by the NGO’s Ghanaian representative, Stephane Lecosson, who, after a thorough background check, submitted a request for support to Soccer for Dreamers President Sylvia Akwaboah, who prompted the New York-based organization to agree to support the organization.

The items included Red Bull jackets, Red Bull Leipzig shirts, Red Bull T-shirts and Nike-branded water bottles.

Mrs Akwaboah was giving a presentation at their annual health lecture for female footballers, along with her children Baruch, Jed and Kayden. She said they were inspired by the club’s story and decided to support the club.

She urged the team to put the supplies to good use and hoped that better days would come when they would receive more support.

The NGO also donated kits, shoes and other football equipment to Immigration Ladies, Teshie Constant Ladies, GRA Ladies, Halifax Queens and Sissamba Ladies while four male clubs namely Agenda FC from Shai Hills, Fiakonya FC from Somanya, Abonya, Young Believers from Dodowa and D-Shooters FC from Odumse also benefited from the gesture.

In collaboration with the Ghana Football Association (GFA), they gave a lecture on menstrual hygiene and distributed menstrual cups to players.

Obed Tuffour, Compliance and Integrity Officer at the GFA, gave a lecture to the male clubs on maintaining the integrity of the sport and protecting matches and competitions from match-fixing.
