New York cop arrested for assault in Queens

QUEENS, NY – An off-duty New York City Police Department officer was arrested in Queens Monday evening and charged with assault and harassment, police said. The officer, identified as 30-year-old Serge St Fleur, was taken into custody within the confines of the 111th Precinct.

Authorities say St Fleur, who serves as a police officer with the NYPD, was arrested around 8:30 p.m. and subsequently charged with third-degree assault and second-degree harassment. Specific details about the incident that led to the charges have not been released.

The NYPD has not yet commented on the arrest and has not yet confirmed whether St. Fleur has been suspended or placed on modified duty pending an investigation. The case is expected to be reviewed by internal affairs and local prosecutors as part of standard procedure in cases involving police personnel.

St. Fleur’s arrest adds to a string of recent incidents involving off-duty NYPD officers, putting officers’ behavior outside of their official duties under constant scrutiny.
