New Town man arrested for driving under the influence and assaulting an officer during a traffic stop

MEDINA, ND (Valley News Live) – On November 23, around 1:30 p.m., a North Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper responded to a report of a vehicle driving recklessly on Interstate 94.

37-year-old Angelo White was stopped by NDHP and determined to be under the influence of alcohol. During the arrest, White attacked the State Trooper, and they fought for several minutes before backup arrived.

A passing Foster County sheriff’s deputy stopped to assist when he heard the call for help. White also attacked the deputy.

NDHP says other State Troopers and Stutsman County deputies arrived minutes later.

Angelo White was charged with the following offenses: Driving While License Suspended (Crime B), Driving While Intoxicated/Actual Physical Control (Crime B), Driving While Intoxicated/Refusing to Submit to Chemical Test (Crime B), Simple assault on a peace officer (C Felony) – two counts Contact with bodily fluids against law enforcement (C Felony) and resisting arrest (C Felony).

White is in custody at the Stutsman County Jail.

The NDHP Trooper suffered minor injuries and is recovering at home.

The NDHP would like to thank the public for helping to keep the roads safe by reporting dangerous driving. Both dangerous drivers were removed from the roadway thanks to the dedication of the motoring public, who recognized a dangerous situation and reported it to the police. Impaired and dangerous driving occurs at all hours of the day and on all types of roads. If you see something, say something, because it could save a life.
