New Report on Warriors Trade Potential Giannis Antetokounmpo

While the Milwaukee Bucks have not given opponents any indication that they plan to trade 2021 Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, the team’s 2-8 record makes these rumors louder than they have been in a long time.

Several reports have revealed that Milwaukee has already started calling teams about potential trades to upgrade their roster around Antetokounmpo, but should the star player ultimately ask to leave, the Bucks may have no choice but to make deals.

It’s long been known that the Golden State Warriors covet Antetokounmpo, and still have all of their top trade assets that they didn’t want to move to other potential deals this offseason.

In a recent video for Bleacher Report, NBA insider Jake Fischer revealed some key dynamics surrounding the possibility of Antetokounmpo landing in Golden State.

“The other big connection to keep an eye on is the fact that Giannis and Steph (Curry) are both represented by the same agency: Octagon,” Fischer said. “…We’ve seen these types of synergies make deals possible.”

Fischer then used the examples of Karl-Anthony Towns as a CAA client, along with several other New York Knicks players. Additionally, Fischer said Russell Westbrook and Nikola Jokic, both Excel clients, likely helped land the 2017 MVP with the Denver Nuggets this summer.

“Giannis is going to have a very complicated trade scenario,” Fischer added. “…The fact that he is represented by the same agency as Steph Curry, I think is just one important detail in all of this.”

NBA insider Marc Stein also reported via his Substack that Golden State (along with the Miami Heat, Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks) would be the most credible candidates for Antetokounmpo if he were to become available via trade.

It’s important to reiterate that neither Antetokounmpo nor the Bucks have indicated a split is imminent, but losing is sparking these conversations, and the Bucks are doing a lot of it right now.
