New model celebrates Stanley Cup victory Florida Panthers

WINTERHAVEN, Fla. – In the hours after the Florida Panthers hoisted the Stanley Cup for the first time, four Legoland master modelers went to work creating a fitting salute to commemorate the historic victory.

Legoland Florida Resort unveiled a replica of the team’s championship moment. The creative exhibit – on display near the Miami section of Miniland USA – includes 29 Florida Panther hockey players, 20 fans, 18 dance team members and six real panthers, some of which are sports jerseys. Some fans also hold rats, which is a nod to the game’s tradition of fans throwing fake rodents onto the ice in the stands.

The LEGO replica has more than 4,000 bricks and took more than 20 hours to build.

A few players hold signs that read, “I’m going to Legoland Florida Resort!” – it’s probably a variation on the iconic slogan “I’m going to Disney World,” said by someone on a winning collegiate or professional team.

The Panthers faced the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Finals on Monday night, defeating them in Game 7 of the championship. Legoland Florida had shown support for the NHL team during the Stanley Cup Finals. The LEGO Championship scene replaces an earlier replica where fans watched and cheered on the Panthers on a lawn on a large LEGO screen.
