New cyclist from Berlin hit by car, seriously injured on Thursday

Cyclist hit and seriously injured in New Berlin

A cyclist was hit in New Berlin on Thursday afternoon and taken to a hospital in critical condition.

It happened on Calhoun Road near Greenfield Avenue shortly after 1:30 p.m. Police said a vehicle struck the bicyclist, who was identified as a 69-year-old man.

A preliminary investigation at the scene indicated that neither drugs nor alcohol were a factor in the crash, but police provided no additional information about the driver of the vehicle.

Calhoun Road was temporarily closed between Greenfield and Addison Avenues while the investigation unfolded. The Wisconsin State Patrol is assisting the New Berlin Police Department with crash reconstruction efforts.
