NASCAR celebrates July 4 at a track where the Cup Series has never raced.

Sunday’s race at Road America will be the first modern Cup Series race at the 4-mile track in Wisconsin. Road America was added to the Cup Series schedule in 2021 as part of NASCAR’s shift to more tracks. After having three tracks on the 36-race schedule in recent years, NASCAR doubled that number with races scheduled at Road America, Circuit of the Americas and Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Add to that a race that has been moved to Daytona, and seven of the 36 races on this year’s Cup schedule are at racetracks. And it won’t come as a surprise that the two drivers who have excelled on racetracks recently are the two favorites for Sunday’s race.

Chase Elliott starts as the favorite at +230. Elliott won at the Circuit of the Americas in May and six of his 12 career victories have come on street courses.

Kyle Larson is the No. 2 favorite at +280. The fastest driver in 2021, Larson was second to Elliott at COTA and was dominant at Sonoma in June to earn his first career race win at a track. The June 27 race at Pocono was the first race since Darlington on May 9 that Larson didn’t lead a lap. And guess what? He finished second at both Pocono and Darlington.

Here’s a look at what you need to know to bet on Sunday’s race. All odds are from BetMGM.

The favorites

Chase Elliott, +230

Kyle Larson, +280

Martin Truex Jr., +650

Kyle Busch, +800

Joey Logano, +1000

Truex was the second-fastest driver at Sonoma and has been right behind Elliott in road course speed in recent seasons. Busch won the second race at Pocono by just fourth gear and will race in Saturday’s Xfinity race. Logano’s odds are so slim because he finished second on the Daytona road course, third at COTA and fourth at Sonoma.

Good mid-range value

Kevin Harvick, +2500

Christopher Bell, +3300

Harvick’s team is getting faster, even if it hasn’t consistently shown race-winning speed. Harvick also runs the Xfinity race on Saturday and has multiple victories at the track. Bell won at Daytona and won the 2019 Xfinity race at Road America.

Do not install this driver

Ross Chastain, +4000

Chastain finished fourth at COTA and seventh at Sonoma after making a great move to cut through the inside of the final corner while accelerating after a crash to maintain his position on the track. However, we’re not confident in his chances to win at Road America, and his chances seem a bit inflated given those two finishes.

Are you looking for an opportunity?

Tyler Reddick, +6600

Reddick took the pole and finished ninth at COTA. He was third at Road America in 2019 and looks like a decent value.
