Mosley Volleyball prepares for the fall season

LYNN HAVEN, Fla. (WMBB) – The Mosley volleyball team began practice last week in preparation for the fall season with many new faces on their roster.

After winning a state title in Class 5A in 2021, the Dolphins were relegated to Class 6A the previous two seasons, but will return to 5A this fall.

Mosley has seven seniors on the roster this year, but only has two starters from last year returning.

According to Kennedy Harrison, senior libero and defensive specialist, it will be a very balanced team that does not rely on one player to take the lead.

“This year, one of our main goals is just to work really well as a team,” Harrison said. “And I feel like we have really good chemistry as a group and we’re really strong at every position, especially with new people coming in. I think it’s just a different dynamic.”

Some of the new faces are incoming transfers from other schools in the region, who are challenging the competition for a starting line-up.

Veteran winger Bennett Mitchell said the competition forces everyone to be at their best in every training session.

“Nothing is given here, we all have to work for it,” Mitchell said. “Everybody in this gym, when we come in, we all want to compete with each other. There’s no assigned spot. Every day we challenge each other and set a new standard for other people to try to live up to. So I think it’s good because everybody comes in, nobody settles for how they played the day before because everybody around them in the gym is raising the bar. So it keeps everything competitive and we all play with intention every day.”

Mosley opens the season with the Bay High game on August 21.
