More than 60 percent of Pokémon Worlds VGC attendees chose the bear on day two

After Rapid Strike Urshifu dominated the second day of the Pokémon World Championships and topped the VGC usage charts, it’s clear that Rapid Strike Urshifu’s time in the meta is over and he needs to be gotten rid of as soon as possible.

Among the top 12 most used Pokémon Day two of Worlds saw few surprises. When it came to limited-use Legendary Pokémon, it was Calyrex Shadow Rider, Calyrex Ice Rider, and Miraidon that all came out on top for use—to the surprise of few. Meanwhile, Incineroar, Rillaboom, and Raging Bolt still dominate the Regulation G meta, with Rapid Strike Urshifu taking the throne with 61.32 percent use.

It’s no secret that Rapid Strike Urshifu is an absolute threat with great stats, a multi-hit signature move, and the broken ability to attack via Protect. But despite its power, many VGC players despise the water bear. Former World Champion Wolfe Glick, who used Urshifu on his Worlds team this year, has even claimed that the bear ruined the competition PokémonIt’s just too broken for its own good.

Luckily for all the Urshifu haters, the bear will be banned in the upcoming format, Regulation H, along with all other Legendaries and Paradox Pokémon. It’s interesting how they decided to ban a group of Pokémon, considering all previous competitive formats of Scarlet and Violet had done the opposite and thrown more ‘mons into the meta. Perhaps the VGC community’s general dislike for Urshifu had some influence on the Legendary bans to remove the water bear and shake up the meta.

Hopefully, the meta can reach a healthier state without Urshifu and other overpowered Legendaries like Shadow Rider and Ice Rider Calyrex. But until Reg H officially begins on September 1st, we should see Urshifu tear through the field and potentially take home another World Championship title this weekend.
