Monument Valley Walk

Monument Valley is all about changing your perspective as you find the path to the final door. We’ll start the walkthrough in chapter four, as chapters one through four are the tutorials that introduce the mechanics.

You need to wait for the crows to give you space to walk to the button. Then you can rotate the new movable path to connect the stairs and rotate it again to reach the next button. It will unlock a ladder and take you to the next building. Here’s what you need to do next in Monument Valley:

  • Turn the yellow movable path to place the crow underneath and press the button.
  • Go back and spin it again to catch the crow blocking the way to the stairs.
  • Once you reach the top, wait for the crow to stand in front of the moving path before lifting him up.
  • Then turn it over again to secure it.

In the next building, turn the movable path in front of you to make room to cross. The next crow will have to go up to make room, so turn the other movable path. Repeat with the other crow.

In the last building, move Ida to the square on the side, rotate the square to connect the tiles until you reach the top floor. Keep rotating the building and walk to the edge to eventually reach the top.

After you have the yellow column, drag it to the next button. Keep using the column to press the buttons until you reach the button that needs to be held down, then do this:

  • Move the column to the corner and step on the button to raise it.
  • Drag the column to the space next to the ladder.
  • Climb up to get back on the column.
  • Push the column towards the stairs leading to another button. It will create a path to the isolated column with a button going up.
  • Drag the yellow column to it and it will turn sideways. Drag the yellow column to create a final path.

Drag the column to the new button and you will be taken to the next building. Here is what you need to do next:

  • Turn the stairs to move the yellow column to the path below.
  • Turn it again so you can go up the stairs, bring the column back and step on it.
  • Move it to the other side so you can press the button.
  • Place the yellow column back under the stairs, turn it and push it towards the remaining button.

In the next building:

  • Move the column to the center and rotate the movable path.
  • Push the column to the left.
  • Rotate the path and move Ida to the other side.

This will create an illusion that the column is next to Ida, allowing you to step on it. Simply rotate the moving path once more to create one that leads to the next button and move the column. Finally, bring the column to the center to create another illusion and bring Ida over to it. Drag the yellow column to the door and push the moving path with the circles on the side down. Move the column one last time to get to the door.

You will need to use the walking crows in this level. Keep turning the movable path until it reaches the button and takes Ida to the building. On the next puzzle:

  • Have the crow press the button on the right twice and bring Ida to the movable path
  • Have the crow press the button on the left twice.
  • Press the button on the right twice again to connect the paths and move Ida to the other movable path.
  • Have the crow press the left button twice.

Have Ida press the remaining button and a door will appear. Stop the crow in the next building by holding up the movable path with the circles on the side to block it.

Finally, all you need to do is rotate the building until the paths meet. Start by moving Ida to the right and rotate the building until the paths meet. Repeat this process until you are next to a crow, then go down the stairs to press the button. Go back to the top of the stairs and rotate the building until it connects with the red stairs.

Chapter VIII – The Box

There are four buildings in the box, depending on how you open it. Ida is on the one you open by dragging the movable path on the upper right. She goes to the building on the lower left of the cube. Watch the crow’s timing, press the button on the other side and go back to the door.

She goes back to the blue building, goes there and lets her cross the new door. It takes Ida to the yellow building in the upper left part of the box. Press the button to unlock the new building in the cube. Once it’s all revealed, press the buttons as they appear and you’ll gain access to them.

Grab the flower and go down.

  • Go left until you are in front of a tower and turn the movable path.
  • Go up the ladder and press the button. From there go as low as possible to lower the sea and unlock the movement of the yellow column.
  • Turn the movable path to raise the tower and descend the ladder.
  • Turn it again to lower the tower until it connects to the path behind it. Turn it again to lower the ladder.
  • Move the yellow column so you can climb on it and drag it to the door.

In the next building:

  • Push the key in the right wall to create a path connecting to the stairs.
  • Move the movable paths to connect the road to the button.
  • Keep adjusting until you reach the bottom of the ladder.

When you reach the gray stairs, press the buttons and keep turning in the same direction until the path connects. You will come to a mirror; align the path while looking at it. When the stairs seem stuck, just walk forward and they will start falling down.

The first building is confusing. You have to move Ida to one of the colored tiles and rotate them so that you can go to the other sides of the cube and reach the doors. Here is what you have to do to get to the first door:

  • Go to the tiles next to the crow and rotate them so that Ida is on the outside of the cube.
  • Walk around the crow to reach the red tiles and turn them so you are on the same side of the stairs.
  • Go through the door.
  • Turn the movable part until it makes contact with the top pad.
  • Take Ida over to the movable path and turn it so she is standing on the path leading to the bottom door.
  • Go to the door on the right and enter.
  • Turn the movable pad so that it moves sideways and press the button.
  • Go through the door to return to the cube.

This is how you get to the second door:

  • Go back to the red tile and rotate it to reach the blue tile next to the crow.
  • Turn the blue tile so that Ida is on the same path as the crow.
  • Turn the cube so you can see the door at the top and go inside.
  • Continue walking until you reach the smaller, winding path.
  • Rotate it to get Ida into the inner part of the building.
  • Rotate it again until it is halfway into place, creating a path to the button.
  • Press the button and go through the door.

For the last door:

  • Go back to the blue tile next to the crow.
  • Go to the other blue tile and rotate it so that Ida is on the inside of the cube.
  • Go to the red tile with the arch and turn it towards the stairs.
  • Go through the door.
  • Keep walking and turning the building until you go through each door and reach the button.
  • Go to the moving part where the crow is and turn the building one last time.

To end the chapter, go to the red tile and rotate it so that Ida is back in the inner part of the cube. Go to the blue tile next to the crow and rotate it so that Ida can walk on the forced perspective and complete the challenge.
