Brandon Montour

When Brandon Montour lived in Tilbury, it was clear he had talent.

Montour, a defenseman for the Florida Panthers, was part of the Stanley Cup winning team when the Panthers defeated the Edmonton Oilers in Game Seven of the Stanley Cup Final on Monday night.

Montour grew up in Tilbury from grade 1 to grade 8 and attended Tilbury Area Public school before moving with his family to Six Nations near Brantford.

While living in Tilbury, Montour played for the Chatham-Kent Cyclones AAA hockey team in the winter and for the Windsor Warlocks minor lacrosse teams in the summer. Montour won two gold medals and a silver with Team Iroquois at the national lacrosse championships.

Montour played Junior B hockey, a year in the USHL and a year of college hockey at University of Massachusetts Amherst before becoming a second-round draft pick of the Anaheim Ducks. Montour also played for the Buffalo Sabers before playing with Florida.
