Moment Ukraine launches major attack destroying Russian ‘drone headquarters’ during bloody fighting | World | News

The Ukrainian military has released a video of a devastating airstrike it recently carried out in Russia’s Kursk region.

The video, captured by a drone, captures the moment two AASM Hammer guided bombs hit an apartment building.

According to the Ukrainian military, the five-storey apartment building was used as an operational base by Russian drone operators.

The building is surrounded by thick black smoke and enormous flames as the bombs hit their targets with deadly accuracy.

The AASM Hammer is a smart all-weather air-to-surface weapon with an extended stand-off capability.

The missiles, produced by French defense company Safran, have a range of more than 70 kilometers (40 miles).

Heavy fighting continues in the Kursk region as Vladimir Putin’s forces attempt to drive the Ukrainian army from the area.

Ukraine launched a daring cross-border incursion into the Russian region in early August.

Kiev’s forces quickly captured some 800 square kilometers of territory and more than a hundred settlements, overwhelming the Kremlin and forcing Putin’s generals to move troops into the region from other parts of the front line in Ukraine.

The Russians have since launched a joint counterattack to retake the captured territory.

Ukraine’s army chief said Friday that his forces had killed, wounded or captured 17,819 Russian soldiers in the Kursk Oblast since the first days of the raid.

According to Oleksandr Syrskyi, a total of 6,662 Russian troops have been killed, 10,446 wounded and 711 captured since August 8.

The Ukrainian commander also denied Putin’s claims at the BRICS summit in Kazan that 2,000 of his soldiers had been cut off in Kursk.

“This is outright disinformation that does not reflect the real situation,” Syrskyi said.

“Ukrainian troops continue their active operations in the direction of Kursk, destroying the enemy’s combat potential for the third month in a row.”

His comments come amid reports that Russia has already sent North Korean troops to the Kursk front.
