New York Mets starting pitcher Sean Manaea plans to decline his $13.5 million player option for 2025 and become a free agent, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.

News: Sean Manaea plans to waive the $13.5 million option on his contract, per source.
That’s no surprise, as Manaea will likely earn significant multi-year interest on the open market.

Manaea, who turns 33 in February, went 12-6 with a 3.47 ERA (1.08 WHIP) in 32 starts last year, striking out 184 in 181.2 innings.
