MLB player props

Jarren Duran records 2+ total bases (-120)

Jarren Duran is arguably the best hitter in baseball right now, and I don’t count on him slowing down anytime soon. I like him Record 2+ total bases (-120) in tonight’s game.

The Boston Red Sox earned a walk-off victory over the Toronto Blue Jays last night and will now face them in Game 2 of the series.

Boston has a solid implied total of 4.59 against the Blue Jays and their starter Kevin Gausman, according to the Fire heatmap.

Normally I would avoid Gausman against the Red Sox as he has had his way with them in recent years, but things are changing. The 33-year-old hasn’t been the same pitcher we’ve become accustomed to in recent seasons.

Through 80 2/3 innings, the righty has posted a 4.24 ERA and a 5.15 expected ERA (xERA). Hits haven’t been difficult for Gausman either, as he’s posted a WHIP of 1.29 – his highest since 2019. He’s also struggled with hard hit rates, allowing batters to control the ball 42.5% of the time, per Baseball Savant.

This is all to get us to Duran. The dynamic outfielder is currently on a 14-game hitting streak, hitting .396 overall in the month of June. During those fourteen games, Duran has had ten multi-hit games, which is why I like him to record two or more bases again.

When he’s not playing multi-hit games, counting on extra-base hits hasn’t been difficult; the outfielder has 40 on the campaign in the form of 23 doubles, 10 triples and 7 home runs.

Duran starts tonight with confidence.

Freddie Freeman records an RBI (+110)

While it’s easy to ride with someone from the Los Angeles Dodgers lineup most nights, it’s another good time tonight against the Chicago White Sox.

Chicago starts Chris Flexen in the game. Los Angeles therefore has the second-best implied total of the night (5.62), according to Fire’s heat map.

Flexen has been a pitcher to jump on – from an offensive standpoint and from a bet against him. His struggles have been widely documented, but in 16 games and 14 starts, the right-handed pitcher has a 5.03 ERA and a 4.81 SIERA. He allows a high fly-ball percentage of 47.3% and also pulls in a 1.35 HR/9. Add in the 1.39 WHIP and 4.73 FIP, and you know you want someone from this Dodgers offense tonight.

Shohei Ohtani is never a bad choice, but I’m rolling with No. 3 hitter Freddie Freeman to Register an RBI (+110).

On the season, Freeman has recorded 46 RBIs in the middle of the Dodgers’ order. With Mookie Betts’ injury, manager Dave Roberts made the choice to keep Freeman in the three spots instead of moving him up, giving him the same opportunities to drive in points.

The first baseman has made easy work of throwing right-handed this year, posting a .339 average and a .429 wOBA. He’s had a .444 wOBA and 1.072 OPS in the month of June alone, so we’ll be watching him tonight when the bat swings well.

Freeman is as consistent as they come, giving me every confidence to target him in an ideal matchup tonight.

Jose Altuve records 2+ total bases (-125)

Jose Altuve remains consistent at the top of the Houston Astros lineup and is the hitter we want tonight against the Colorado Rockies.

Colorado will start left-hander Austin Gomber, which is good news for Altuve and company. The southpaw has a 4.36 ERA, 4.72 SIERA and 5.12 FIP. Gomber’s 1.65 HR/9 and 1.30 WHIP invite lineups, which is part of the reason the implied total for the Astros’ offense is 4.79.

If I’m considering a bet for Altuve, I like it Record 2+ total bases (-125).

The second baseman has a batting average of .299 and a wOBA of .353 – a steady bat to lean on. Through 77 games, Altuve has had 25 multi-hit games and 28 extra-base hits.

I’m even more eyeing Altuve in this game because of his great success against lefties. The 34-year-old has a .368 wOBA, .840 OPS and 142 wRC+ when facing lefties in 2024.

Kicking off an Astros lineup that hadn’t reached the expected level but is now turning things around, Altuve is the hitter you can trust.
