MLB analysts give Guardians exciting prediction for the rest of the season

Just a week ago, fans of the Cleveland Guardians were concerned that the team would finally relinquish first place in the American League Central after holding the lead for more than four months.

The tide has turned for everyone in the division, however, with the Guardians having won six of their last 10 games and regaining a 4.5-game lead in the AL Central.

ESPN asked 18 of its MLB analysts a series of questions for the next month of the season. One of the questions was about who they thought would win the AL Central crown. Cleveland was predicted to win the division, with 12 analysts predicting them to finish first. The Kansas City Royals received five votes, while the Minnesota Twins received just one.

Much of this optimism stems from Cleveland’s strong start to the season and their recent series wins against the Pittsburgh Pirates and Royals.

Here’s what some of their writers had to say about it:

“The Guardians’ lineup has lost some steam, while the starting rotation remains a concern, but they’ve been in first place (alone or tied) since April 6. And they’ll stay there (alone) for the rest of the month.” – Jorge Castillo

“This past week, Cleveland has gone from being concerned about the Royals to being concerned about overtaking the Yankees for the top overall seed in the AL.” – Bradford Doolittle

This Guardians team has flaws; no one will deny that. However, they have been the best and most consistent team in the division since early April and it is certainly their division to lose at this point in the season.
