Boat building day – June 20 at 10 a.m. at the North Lake County Library; the young boat builders who build the ship that can hold the most loot before it sinks will win the contest, which is part of the library’s summer reading program.

Summer Solstice Brew Festival – 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM June 22 at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Ronan; two bands perform – Buffalo Speedway and Andrew Sweeney – while numerous Montana breweries offer samples of their wares; food trucks, a wine tasting and a distillery add to the atmosphere. Pollinator Week Event – June 22, 10:30 a.m. to noon at the North Lake County Library; the Lake County Conservation District is offering a 90-minute workshop on identifying and tracking pollinators, their habitat, and how to participate in local citizen science initiatives. The free event includes a short lecture, hands-on learning with tracking technology and a pollinator walk. All ages and backgrounds are welcome.

Friends of Lake Mary Ronan Community Social – 1-3pm June 22 at Mountain Meadows Lodge; the Friends of Lake Mary Ronan will serve free hot dogs, chips and sides to attendees and provide information about current projects. The nonprofit strives to “preserve and protect Lake Mary Ronan and its watershed through research, education and community involvement.”

Culpepper and Merriweather Circus & Carnival – 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. June 23 at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Ronan, with the carnival from noon to 4:30 p.m. The event is hosted by Safe Harbor and includes aerialists, Golden Tabby tigers, horses and more. Call 406-676-0992 for information.

Mission Mountain Rodeo – 6 p.m. June 28-29 at the Polson Fairgrounds; The rodeo starts with youth events including mutton breaking and mini bull riding, followed by Norther Rodeo Association action at 7pm with bareback, steer wrestling, saddle bronc, team roping, roping and barrel racing and bull riding. Live music will follow Friday’s rodeo. Call 406-883-1100.

Book discussion with Butch Larcombe – 6 p.m. On July 1, the North Lake County Library author will present his new book, “Historic Tales of Flathead Lake.”

Fourth Feasts – The Polson Chamber lights up Flathead Lake with a fireworks display at dusk July 3 in Riverside Park, and pays tribute to Red, White and BBQ with the Independence Day Parade, July 4 at noon on Main Street; Charlo will celebrate “Faith, Farmin’ and Freedom” with a parade on July 4 at noon on Hwy. 212.

“Talk the Talk: Then and Now – Student Photos 2001-2024” – on view through August 30 in the Three Woodcocks Gallery at Salish Kootenai College; exhibition celebrates the photography of Two Eagle River and SKC students, created under the tutelage of master photographer David Spear.

Indigenous heritage – through July 12 at Sandpiper Gallery and Gifts in Polson; non-juried show celebrates the rich cultural heritage of the Mission Valley.

Open mic and jam – 7pm on Fridays at the Western Montana Musicians Co-op, Ronan; There is also a weekly Community Jam on Saturdays at 7pm. The co-op is located in the Red Poppy Building, 1 Eisenhower St. SW in Ronan. More information can be found at www.mtmusic.org.
