Mikel Arteta wants Arsenal to consider Dusan Vlahovic for a second time

Mikel Arteta has revolutionised Arsenal and turned the team into a genuine title contender, but the one area of the pitch the Spaniard needs to invest in is number nine.

The Gunners’ squad is brimming with talent, but the lack of a true striker has led many to believe that a forward with a guarantee of 20 goals per season is the missing link for a successful title challenge.

Arsenal have had a number of strikers under their belt in recent transfer windows, including RB Salzburg’s Benjamin Sesko and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. Neither deal came to fruition, leaving Arteta to rely on Leandro Trossard, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus as his main strikers.

Mikel Arteta still interested in Dusan Vlahovic

Although the trio have started the season well, scoring four goals between them, Arteta remains determined to sign a better scoring striker, with Dusan Vlahovic on his wish list, according to TBR Football.

Arsenal attempted to sign the 24-year-old from Fiorentina in 2022, but were beaten by Juventus.

Price could make Vlahovic third most expensive Arsenal signing

Despite previous failed attempts to sign the Serbia international, Arteta remains interested and, with a January move already ruled out, wants the Gunners to re-examine the deal next year.

Signing the Belgrade-born striker could be possible, but it would require Juventus to make a bid of at least £66m. If Arsenal agree, Vlahovic would become the third most expensive signing in the club’s history.

During his two-and-a-half years in Turin, the Juventus number nine, who has two years left on his contract, has scored 43 goals and provided 10 assists in 107 games in all competitions.
