Mikel Arteta has signed a new contract with Arsenal until 2027. The manager has been in charge since 2019 and has guided the club to successive second-place finishes, but was now entering the final year of his contract.

Arteta last month called for calm over his contractual situation, insisting his focus was on the transfer window. His new deal comes ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League derby against Tottenham on Sunday.

Since Arteta, a former Arsenal player, left his role as manager at Manchester City to replace Unai Emery, he has turned the club back into a title contender, winning the FA Cup in 2020.
