Mike Tomlin downplays how much Arthur Smith can help the Steelers prepare for the Falcons

The Steelers will face the Falcons on Sunday, meaning Pittsburgh offensive coordinator Arthur Smith will head to Atlanta, where he has been head coach for the past three years. But that’s not really an advantage for the Steelers.

According to Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, Smith has no specific insights on how to approach the Falcons, despite having coached them.

“Nothing out of the ordinary, to be honest with you,” Tomlin said. “Obviously he has intimate knowledge of a lot of their personnel, but everyone in the National Football League has personnel departments. Our job is to understand personnel. So I don’t know that we got any earth-shattering information in that regard.”

Smith went 7-10 in each of his three seasons as the Falcons’ head coach and was fired after the 2023 season. Now he begins his first season in Pittsburgh with one more trip to Atlanta.
