Midway Little League baseball wins district title

WACO, Texas (KXXV) – Midway Little League baseball heads into the weekend with some new hardware as they were crowned district nine champions.

“It was awesome — we did it three times in a row and yeah, it just felt like a great 12U year,” said third baseman and pitcher Brooks Bullajian.

“I was just filled with joy and excitement and happiness because this year is really tough, but it’s also been really exciting,” said second baseman Hank Pegram.

These players have been together since they were in first grade. That chemistry off the field leads to results on the field.

“They’re basically family and they’re just really good, wonderful people and they’re like my best friends,” Pegram said.

“When you can get 12 guys out here playing baseball with one common goal, to get them all out here, with one goal, and working as a team, that rarely happens at this age. I’m glad I get to be a part of that,” said Chris Bullajian, Midway Little League Baseball head coach.

Midway has been district champion here before, but now they want to get closer to their next goal.

“Getting far in the sectionals — I would say, if we can get to state, that would be great — we’ve never done that. We’ve been close,” Brooks Bullajian said.

“Our goal is always to win a minor league world championship, but we understand that we have to take it one step at a time. So go out there, take care of business, play our brand of baseball and hope that everything falls into place,” Chris Bullajian said.

The Midway Little League now has a sectional tournament starting this weekend in Arlington.
