Mets talk about adding star power to NLDS roster against Phillies

The Mets have discussed whether to activate Kodai Senga for the National League Division Series against the Phillies, reports Will Sammon of The Athletic.

According to Sammon, the club was still undecided as of Thursday evening and the selections will not be announced until Saturday morning.

Sammon also reported that Senga threw 25 pitches during a live bullpen session in Florida earlier this week.

Senga started the season on the injured list after injuring his shoulder within a week of pitchers and catchers reporting for spring training.

He made just one start during the regular season. Senga was activated prior to his July 26 start against the Braves, allowing two runs in 5 1/3 innings with nine strikeouts. but suffered a calf injury in the sixth inning, putting him back on the injured list.

Last season, Senga posted a 12-7 record in 29 starts with a 2.98 ERA and 202 strikeouts in 166-1/3 innings (10.9 SO/9). This earned him an All-Star nod and NL Cy Young votes – he placed seventh in the award.
