Mercedes Moné explains why her AEW entrance music is good

In the latest issue of Moné Mag, AEW star Mercedes Moné explains why she knows her AEW entrance music “CEO” is a good song for pro wrestling. Along the way, she also tells a story about the dreaded days early in her career when she walked to Rebecca Black’s “Friday.”

This is what Mercedes has to say about it:

The right entrance music can literally make a talent’s career. For that reason, Kev, cousin Rocco and I put a lot of effort into writing my current entrance song, CEO. Within seconds of CEO playing for the first time, fans were singing along to the song. Then you know that you have a good entry number. However, when I started, I didn’t know what entry-level music to get into because I didn’t even know who I was as a person, let alone a character. I didn’t even know if I was black or white. Until I realized I was a little bit of everything, I left my music to the Indy promoters.

Since I had no idea what song to come out to, Chaotic’s promoters had me come out to Rebecca Black’s “Friday.” Since the number was big and the games were on Fridays, it made sense. But I was afraid of it! Shrink. But you know what? It helped me because it forced me to ‘act’, play along and come out of my shell. So as always, I’m grateful for the experience, but certainly not a Moné Memory I want to repeat. Nothing but love for Rebecca Black, and we hope she got a whole lot of Moné out of the song. Just not the first on my CEO playlist.

I can’t say I agree with Moné’s take on her AEW entrance song, but I don’t listen to music at all, so what the hell do I know? Well, I know ‘Friday’ is a terrible song to say the least.

What do you think of Mercedes’ AEW entrance music? Do you agree with the TBS Champion’s logic that it’s a good song in wrestling because fans sing along to it? Let me know in the comments below, Cagesiders.
