Members of the Detroit FFA team attended the 96th Annual Texas FFA State Convention

Detroit FFA had eight student officers and leadership team members, as well as two FFA Advisors, attend the 96th Annual Texas FFA State Convention in Houston. The students were on state duty from Sunday, July 7th through Friday, July 12th, during Hurricane Beryl.

“We are very proud of their success and commitment in representing our school at the local, district, regional, state and national levels!”

During the 4th General Meeting of the 96th Annual Texas FFA Convention in Houston on July 11th, Madeleine received a $20,000 scholarship from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for her outstanding performance during her 4-year FFA career and her academic achievements!

“Good luck this fall as she heads to Texas A&M University as part of the Fighting Texas Aggies Corp of Cadets!”

Alissa Eudy and Shelton Wooley were selected to serve as the 2024 Texas FFA Convention State Courtesy Corp Members. They attended meetings and assisted with the events while assisting attendees with their agendas. Alissa was selected to serve as the 24-25 Paris District FFA Student Advisor. Shelton was selected based on his essay application by the State Officers and State Staff.

Laura Cooper was selected for the second time to serve as a member of the Texas FFA Foundation Ambassador Team and as a Senior Ambassador. Her duties were to assist with the behind-the-scenes work and support of Texas FFA. She assisted corporate and local sponsors and awardees during the 96th Annual Texas FFA State Convention.

Detroit’s own Olivia Lee helped sing the national anthem at the Houston Astros Game on July 10th. She was chosen for the second year to be a part of the prestigious Texas FFA State Convention Chorus. She practiced and performed during the week of the 96th Annual Texas FFA Convention! She was accepted by applying and submitting a vocal audition tape. This year, only 30 students from all over Texas were accepted.

Makenna has qualified for the Vegas Tuffest Junior World Championship Rodeo. She will compete with her horse in the Goat Tying Event this December in Las Vegas. Makenna is a frequent rodeo competitor and is a member of the DHS Class of 2026. She is an advisor to the Detroit FFA for 2024-25.

Detroit FFA was represented by 3 State Voting Delegates at the Texas FFA Convention in Houston on July 10th. They were also represented by 3 State Voting Delegates at the 96th Annual Texas FFA Convention in Houston on July 11th. They helped select the team of state officials and represented the school and community at the state level.
