Megachurch Pastor Sells Massive Texas Complex for $15 Million

Everything is bigger in Texas, and we’re not just talking about monster hailstones and ten-gallon hats.

This time it is a huge complex consisting of six separate homes and spread across 24 acres in the Houston suburb of Spring. And with that massive piece of land comes a hefty price tag: $15 million.

The incredible estate is being sold by a local megachurch, the New Light Christian Center Church, which served as the founder’s home for many years, Bishop IV Hilliard.

Hilliard has classified the property as a parsonage, meaning he doesn’t have to pay property taxes on it.

In 2021, an attorney for the church told the Houston Chronicle that the property was primarily used as a “retreat and conference center for pastors,” making it eligible for tax breaks.

The complex was built in 1999.

A church complex with lavish facilities

The main house is “magazine-worthy,” the listing says, starting with an entryway that wouldn’t look out of place in Vegas and continuing with dozens of bedrooms, countless bathrooms, and plenty of open living spaces.

A major renovation in 2020 refreshed the interior. Elegant finishes include granite in the baths and two wet bars, and updated fixtures throughout. Luxury amenities include a home theater, hair salon, party room, and commercial kitchen.

The master bedroom has a ceiling height of over 7.5 meters, a fitness room and a bathroom with a sunken jacuzzi.

The kitchen has a breakfast bar and a long cooking island.

The estate features a large swimming pool with spa, a tennis court, an office complex with fitness center, a volleyball court and a pond full of bass.

Of course there is room for cars, 22 to be exact. Spring is a suburb of Houston, about 26 miles away.

The area received national media attention in 2016 as the birthplace of Olympic gymnast Simone Bileswhose parents even opened a training facility there.

What could be the next step for the complex?

There are many possibilities here. According to the listing, the property could serve as a family compound, a small hotel or an event space for weddings and reunions.

“Have you ever dreamed of owning your own family compound or neighborhood? Running your own bed and breakfast? A wedding venue? An event center? Then you need to see this luxury estate,” it urges.

Texas is more popular than ever, thanks to the “cowgirl core” trend and the masses of people who have chosen to make the Lone Star State their home.

Per Derek Loebbeckea realtor with Texas Ranch Sales, “Texas has had an influx of people since COVID, ranging from celebrities to average Americans.”

A home theater is included with the property.
