A historic production house founded in 1993 when independent production was taking off in Spain and wanted to meet the primetime ambitions of the newly created commercial networks Telecinco and Antena 3.

Creating huge hits like the first series “Médico de Familia” (1995-99), “7 Vidas” (1999-2006), “Los Serrano” (2003-08), “The Boarding School” (2007-10)” and “Paco’s Men” (2005-21) that knocked American shows out of primetime, fueled sales of front-run and original series abroad, forged a Spanish TV style that continues to this day in the show’s constant fluctuations of genres, and shaped the international ambitions of a generation of creators and executives, including Fernández Espeso himself and indeed Rodriguez. Globomedia’s more recent productions include “Locked-Up” (“Vis-a-Vis”), created by Alex Pina and Ivan Escobar; “Paraíso,” “Nasdrovia” and “Estoy Vivo.”

“Globomedia is a key brand for the Studio and plays a critical role in our overall strategy. With her extensive experience and impressive track record, María José brings invaluable expertise in both fiction and nonfiction content production,” said Espeso. “She is a respected and respected professional in the industry. We are excited to welcome her to our team as she leads such an important brand for us.”

“I am thrilled to return to Globomedia, which has been my professional home for over a decade, and to join the remarkable team at The Mediapro Studio,” added Rodríguez. “Globomedia is not only a beacon of creativity and excellence in the audiovisual sector, but also a fundamental part of my professional and personal journey. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to once again be part of this talented and visionary team. I am determined to use all my experience and passion to contribute to the growth of this respected creative house, to continue innovating and raising industry standards.”

Rodríguez joined Amazon Studios in Spain in 2020 and has been responsible for producing high-profile thrillers such as “Los Farad” and Reina Roja, non-fiction in “Operación Triunfo” and in films, the romantic teen melodrama “Culpa Mía”.

“Operación Triunfo” has become the most acquired Spanish Original in Prime Video history, “Culpa Mía” the most successful international Prime Video Original of all time – valuable experience, since Globomedia will produce for both streamers and networks and sell on the open market.
