Meagan Good and Jonathan Majors are engaged, they announce at the event where they met

Jonathan Majors and Meagan Good are taking the next step in their relationship.

The couple announced their engagement to People and E! News while attending the Ebony Power 100 Gala in Los Angeles on Sunday. Good showed off her ring at the event.

Well told E! that they chose to announce their engagement at the gala for a special reason. “Ebony Power 100 is the event where we met in the bathrooms, in the unisex bathrooms,” she said.

The “Creed” actor told People, “It’s a season of joy,” while Good added, “It’s a season of all things good.”

USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Good and Majors for comment.

Majors, 35, and Good, 43, sparked dating rumors in May 2023. The following month, she began attending his assault trial in New York.

Majors was arrested in New York in March 2023 and accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari in the back of a car. In December he was convicted of assault and intimidation, but acquitted of intentional assault and aggravated intimidation. Majors had pleaded not guilty.

The actor was sentenced to a 52-week domestic violence intervention program but avoided jail time.

Earlier this year, Good shared in an interview with the “Today” show that “every friend advised her against dating Majors during the trial of the ‘Creed III’ actor.”

“In the end, I know one thing: I can always look myself in the mirror when I trust my spirit, when I trust God, when I ask God, when I move to the beat of my own drum – I can always look and say: ‘I’m proud of that,'” she told hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager. “No matter what happens, I have peace in my heart and I have harmony in my heart.”

Of her relationship with Majors, Good said: “The support that we’ve been able to give each other, the leaning into each other, the honest conversations, the love, the respect, just the care and the thoughtfulness, it’s been really amazing.”

Good was previously married to Pastor DeVon Franklin. The couple divorced in 2021 after almost ten years of marriage.
