Maryville man accused of assaulting intoxicated person

MARYVILLE, Mo. (KCTV) – A Maryville man could spend life in prison if he is found guilty of assaulting an intoxicated person after charges are filed against him.

Nodaway County, Missouri Circuit Court filings filed Thursday, Nov. 21 show that Aidan J. Martin, 19, of Maryville, has been charged with sodomy following an incident in September.

A criminal complaint filed by the Nodaway County Prosecutor’s Office revealed that on September 29, Martin sexually assaulted his victim, who was intoxicated and unable to consent. Martin also knew that the victim could not give consent.

As a result, Martin has been charged with sodomy and could face life in prison without parole eligibility for 30 years if convicted.

Court documents show an arrest warrant was issued for Martin on Thursday and no bond was set. It appears he will no longer be behind bars on Sunday.

An arraignment is expected to take place on Tuesday, December 3 at 9:00 am. No further information has been released.
