Martina Trevisan takes revenge for loss to Caroline Dolehide at Guadalajara

GUADALAJARA, Mexico — Martina Trevisan defeated eighth-seeded Caroline Dolehide 6-3, 6-2 on Tuesday to advance to the Guadalajara Open.

Trevisan, who lost to Dolehide in the quarterfinals of Guadalajara last year, will play local favorite Renata Zarazua on Wednesday.

“Today I came to the court with a lot of energy,” Trevisan said. “For me it was maybe revenge and tomorrow I have to be ready for Renata. I played against her twice this year. I know her very well.”

Also on Tuesday, Marie Bouzkova defeated Alexandra Eala 6-2, 6-2 to advance to a second-round match against Lucrezia Stefanini, who defeated Ana Sofía Sánchez 6-0, 3-6, 6-2.

Sixth-seeded Bouzkova reached the semi-finals in Guadalajara last year, but lost to eventual champion Maria Sakkari.

American Ashlyn Krueger defeated Tatjana Maria 7-5, 6-2 and will now face either Magdalena Frech or Emina Bektas.

In other results, Ena Shibahara defeated Kimberly Birrell 6-4, 7-6 (4) to advance to a second-round match against fourth-seeded Caroline Garcia.
